Inside Look: My Apartment in Lonny Magazine

From the March-April 2012 issue of Lonny Mag

I am very excited to reveal to you images of my Brooklyn apartment in the newest issue of Lonny Magazine. I am so honored and thrilled to have been part of their latest Spring edition and so impressed by their work putting this article together. I just want to say that Patrick’s photography is simply unparalleled in the industry and really gives Lonny such a unique look.

I moved into this apartment in July and began the project while working as the Style Editor for the magazine. I had been so inspired by the spaces we had already featured that were designed by Ron Marvin, Ryan Korban and Jarlath Mellett (you may remember him from my previous post of the Southampton house). So, I decided that this new space would be clean, open, edgy and edited. I really wanted to have an apartment that allowed me to think, where I could be creative. And for me, that meant that it had to be very neutral and uncluttered. Although I am very proud of the result, there is still so much to do and I look forward to take my time to complete it. I definitely am exited to find more pieces of photography and artwork, and add a few more layers to create an even more inviting feel.

Don’t forget to check out the full article here and to see the rest of this fantastic magazine.

These two canvases I painted myself. Originally the larger one was similar to a Franz Kline painting but I decided to go in a Suprematist direction and paint it all in black. It utilized the negative space created by the white walls better. Now I just need to make a wood frame for it.

I found this lamp when we were designing the Lonny offices last year and instantly fell in love with it. Arteriors makes the best lighting!

Although you can’t see it in the photo, my bed has three different layers to it: crisp hotel bedding by WS Home, a white quatrefoil quilt by Matteo Home and finally an incredible white linen duvet by Restoration Hardware. Layering different textiles is key!

The two Bungalow 5 side tables serve as dressers. They are such high quality and also conserve space by acting as two things: nightstand and dresser.

Although it didn’t state this in the article, this is my boyfriend Dellan’s dresser. I know I am not very girly but I don’t just keep men’s accessories in my apartment for no reason. The photo strip on the left is one that I took at the Ace Hotel and the strip on the right is of Dellan and his friends.

The two paintings above were done by me the night before the shoot at 1 am. I needed more artwork and wanted to do something very graphic. The frames were of the prefabricated kind that you can find at any art store.
