Sometimes when it’s 32 degrees (0 degrees Celsius) outside we have very little desire to get ourselves out of bed let alone put on a coordinated outfit. I searched the web to see what top fashion designers had to offer that would help all of us feel a bit more motivated to stay chic in the cold. As a little guide to winter fashion, here’s why I chose each item and what to look for:

Studded tote: Although this bag is the most expensive piece in this round up, it’s my absolute favorite. It will serve you extremely well for many months to come for all of your every day needs. Paired with a simple outfit (I’d go for a black cardigan), it will add interest to your winter outfit because of it’s edge.

Gold beaded cuff: If the runways have taught is anything, it’s that cuffs and statement jewelry are staying in style this 2012. Keep cuffs simple and don’t add any more bracelets or necklaces. Go for a pair of earrings instead.

Long black cardigan: I can’t seem to live without one of these. It’s my ultimate go-to item for fall and winter because it can make any outfit look sophisticated. Wear it with skinny jeans or tapered trousers only. If you look better in a bootcut pant then be sure to find a pair that stays narrow along 3/4 of your leg and flares out only at the very end.

Wool snood: Slightly more trendy than a scarf and less tedious, the snood (or cowl or infinity scarf) is an easy add on for the winter. It elongates the neck but still keeps you warm.

Stud earrings: Just a really no fuss way to add small impactive details to your outfit.

Suede belt: If you remember from my second post, I am all about suede this season (suede shorts, suede shoes, suede pillows…). And this particular belt happens to be in one of my favorite colors: army green. The reason why this piece is a good staple is because it will add more texture to what you are wearing.

Ankle high-heeled boot: This is a fantastic shoe that will elongate your leg and will look just as good with pants or skirts.

Felt fedora: This hat looks great on most people, especially if you are tall. If you aren’t (like me, sadly I am 5’3), then wear the kind of boots aforementioned. Keep your hair on the smoother side, no curls.

Black mittens or gloves: Black= never stained. I prefer it when my gloves or mittens are wool, most leather gloves look awkward.
